Your Exclusive Wedding Checklist from JINZA Bridal

Hello, My Brides-To-Be. I want to share a very simple, but useful wedding checklist for you before your big day. Check each of them which is applicable to you step-by-step and sleep tight at night!

10 - 12 Months To Go…..

  • Work out your budget and establish your top priorities: List 10 items, 5 of them are must have; 5 of them can be flexible.

  • Find inspiration. Start browsing wedding blogs and magazines, Pinterest, or our real wedding blogs to find your wedding style and color palette.

  • Compile your preliminary guest list for a guest count.

  • Choose your wedding party, i.e. your bridesmaids and groomsmen.

  • Find a venue for your ceremony and reception, and check their availability. We recommend visiting a few and placing a deposit to reserve your date.

  • Check with your venue about liability insurance or cancellation insurance.

  • When you book a venue, you have a date. Tell everyone to save the date. For destination weddings or weddings around a holiday, consider sending out an e-card or email. Or create your own wedding website, like on

  • Find your dream dress. Need inspiration? Start your Pinterest Board or a bridal fair.

  • Are you feeling overwhelmed? You could also hire a Wedding Planner. Especially when you are having a destination wedding, a local wedding planner is highly recommended.

  • Find your vendors. Make sure you sign a contract with all your vendors and get everything in writing.

6-9 Month To Go…

  • Continue researching, interviewing and booking vendors.

  • Hair and Make-Up Artist: think about your overall wedding theme; Do you want a boho wedding, a luxury/fancy wedding, or just something simple? Choose an artist who fit your personality.

  • Florist. Work with the designer to decide on arrangements.

  • Wedding Cake Tasting. Do a tasting and choose your wedding cake with your cake vendor.

  • Discuss the style and wording of your wedding invitations with a stationer.

  • Hire the DJ/Entertainment for your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

  • Create your gift registry on your wedding website.

  • Arrange hotel room blocks for out-of-town guests and book your own suite for the wedding night.

  • Shop for bridesmaid/flower girl dresses and give your attendants clear instructions on how to place their orders. Tell them the color, the style, jewels, hair style, shoes, or if you have any specific requests.

  • Arrange and book any necessary transportation for the guests, especially between your ceremony location and reception location.

  • Go over bridal shower/bachelorette details and the guest list with the friend hosting your party.

3-5 Months To Go…..

  • Book the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner location. If you want some entertainment for the dinner, it’s time to lock all the details.

  • Put together your rehearsal dinner guest list.

  • Make childcare arrangements for your guests’ kids.

  • Reserve all necessary party rentals and linens.

  • Order wedding favors for your guests.

  • Shop for and reserve men’s formalwear. Especially if the tux needs to be custom made or alteration.

  • Concentrate on finalizing all the following details:

 - Guest List. Get everyone’s mailing addresses.

 - Invitation wording. Confirm your invitation text with the stationer, and consider additional stationery, like thank-you cards, menu cards, place cards, etc. Schedule a pickup date for your invites.

 - Ceremony reading and vows.

 - Menu, beverage and catering details.

 - Timeline of the reception formalities.

  • Schedule a Makeup & Hair trial and book your stylist. Jinza Bridal recommends you do your HUM trial on the same day with your fitting, so you could see the look and make changes as necessary.

  • Hire a personal trainer or start your beauty and fitness regimen for your big day.

  • Shop for and purchase your wedding rings.

  • Finalize honeymoon plans and obtain all necessary documents.

6-8 Weeks To Go…..

  • You are getting close. You will be a little bit nervous. Mail out those invitations. Have a excel sheet to record all the RSVPs and meal choices.

  • Touch base with your vendors to confirm date, deposits and details.

  • Start researching marriage license requirements and name-change paperwork.

  • Begin your dress fittings. Remember to bring your undergarments for the fitting. With Jinza Bridal, we will schedule your fittings with us, so you will be stress-free with your dress.

  • Are you planning to do a first dance? Take a dance lesson with your fiance - a great way to break in your bridal shoes.

  • Send a reminder to all your bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls, and etc to ensure they have ordered all necessary attire.

  • Write thank-you cards for shower gifts and any early wedding gifts received.

3-5 Weeks To Go…

  • Send out rehearsal dinner invitations. If you get-together will be informal, a paperless invite will be really handy.

 - Finalize and confirm the followings:

 - Wedding vows and readings with your Officiant.

 - Shot list with your Photographer/Videographer.

 - Song list for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception with your DJ and Band.

 - Timeline for the reception and who is giving the toasts.

 - Wedding night and honeymoon accommodations.

  • Obtain marriage license and complete name-change documents.

  • Pick up your wedding rings and proofread any engraving.

  • If you are the traditional bride, do you have something old, something new, something blue and something borrowed?

  • Purchase your guest book, toasting flutes, cake servers, unity candle, and all.

  • Buy gifts for the wedding party and parents of the bride and groom.

  • Have your final dress fitting. Bring your shoes and jewels.

  • Confirm with all guests whoever has not yet RSVP’d.

1-2 Weeks To Go…

  • Give your caterer/venue the final guest count.

  • Arrange seating and create the seating chart and place cards.

  • Pick up your wedding gown.

  • Confirm arrival times and finalize the wedding timeline with vendors and the wedding party.

  • Put together your own Bridal Emergency Kit.

  • Check the weather report in advance, and if the weather does not look too good, contact the venue to make sure there is a backup plan in place.

  • Start packing for your honeymoon.

  • Make sure you follow your beauty routine and have enough mask.

The Day Before…

  • Make sure all wedding-day items are packed/laid out and ready to go! (especially marriage license and wedding rings)

  • Figure out tips and final payments for all the vendors. Put them in clearly marketed envelopes and give them to the Best Man or another person you trust to hand out at the reception.

  • Assign someone to pack up your gifts and belongs after the reception. (Don’t forget the top tier of your cake.

  • Thank your best friend for agreeing to return your groom’s tux and other rental items the day after the wedding.

  • Enjoy a mani-pedi.

  • Attend the rehearsal and dinner. Now it’s the time to give out wedding party gifts.

  • Try to go to bed early, and do not drink too much water at night.

Wedding - Day Advice

  • Allow plenty of time to get ready. Especially for your HUM time, guest arrival time.

  • Do the rounds at your wedding - greet everyone and thank them for coming.

  • Take a deep breath and enjoy your big day.

After the Honeymoon/Back to Reality…

  • Write and send thank-you cards.

  • Complete your registry and exchange any unwanted or duplicate gifts.

  • Keep in touch with your photographer/Videographer to work on albums, DVDs and etc.

  • Have your wedding dress cleaned and preserved with a reputable company like Jinza Bridal.
